Another look at a farm girl's life, one who loves living in the country and everything is has to offer, good or bad, how else do we grow...

Name: Sue Neitzel
I live a simple life in the Ozarks, where my hubby and I tend to 5 acres of country pleasure, from raising animals to gardens, and finding comfort in knowing we are giving back to the land, after all, it's only on loan to us....

Sunday, the 30th day of October, 2005
After changing all 12 clocks in the house this morning, my internal clock still isn't adjusting and won't for a few days, spring is worse though, it takes me a good week to adjust to losing that one hour of sleep! My poor house looks like a fright, perfect for Halloween, we can't paint today due to the weather, so the front of the house where we started yesterday is only half way done, so I have a half vanilla cream color and the old brown, I guess it could be worse, but it will bother me till I can get it finished!
In spite of the rain, which we do need, my hubby, Wes got out there and picked up 6 feed bags of walnuts today, and there are more out there. I will save some for holiday baking but most will be taken to the buyer this week. This year it's a record haul, $13 a hundred weight. I've never seen so many people picking up walnuts as they have this year. Our kids used to pick them up for extra money, now that they are all on their own, were doing the same thing!!

My " baby" turns 21 today, he's grown into a fine young man, attending a bible college in Pa. to learn to be a preacher, I'm so proud of him for so many things! You know you did something right when your kids turn out so well.
"If I could turn back time" Cher belts out on the radio reminding me to it's time to turn the clocks back a hour for daylight savings time, but it all could change next year, they want to do the change in March and November, not sure how that will work?
Today, the weather has finally warmed enough to start painting the house, we got the trim painted a couple of weeks ago and that took all that weekend. This task will take longer but will sure make the old place look more like it should. I choose colors of the era the house was built, in the 30's. Vanilla walls and brick red trim will revamp this house back to the style it should be. Back to painting.........
Friday, the 28th day of October, 2005
Today I joined my friends at Mary Janes Farm and started a blog, my first! Being a web writer, I'm hoping this will force me to find more time to write, we will see? I hope you will continue to tag along in my journey to find and conquer the simple life. It won't be as exciting or silly as Paris Hilton's series, but there is always something going on in the country!
A nice thing about blogs is it's a fun way to share with family and friends, and I plan to add my articles here along with recipes, photos of my grandkids and gardens, the farmstead and lots of flowers, and quotes every now and then. Links that are worth checking out and every day happenings here in the Missouri Ozarks.
